Money Matters Volunteer

We are looking for a number of skilled volunteers to join our Information & Advice team. You’ll receive full training and gain practical skills, so you can make a meaningful contribution to older people living in the local area. The funding for this new volunteering programme has been provided by HSBC.


We have two volunteer roles to choose from, applications close Jan 31 and we will be holding interviews at our Aberdare office in February.


Our volunteers are a vital part of our organisation helping to deliver a range of essential service to older people. These roles can also have real benefits for the volunteers, a win-win situation. You will receive high class training, develop practical skills, and gain substantive experience for your CV. Volunteering is also a good way of building confidence, gaining a sense of purpose, and meeting new people.



Are You Eligible?

To apply for these roles, you will need to have the following:



  • Practical IT skills and be able to use a pc
  • Be available for the training dates 
  • Have at least 5 hours a week to spare
  • Willing to commit for the next 12 months
  • Desire to make a difference

The Training Programme

Our three-day training programme will give you all the skills you need to succeed in the role. We will start with an introduction to providing debt advice, before looking at benefit eligibility and the application process, as well as benefits and mental health.

The Roles

As a Volunteer Administrator you will be based in our Pontypridd or Aberdare offices. You will be part of the Central Support Team which deals with the charity’s administration. The role is varied, you could be working on reception and welcoming visitors, completing administrative tasks, or answering the phone and taking messages. Comprehensive training and support will be provided.

As a Volunteer Customer Advisor you will be based at our Information & Advice Hubs in Pontypridd or Aberdare. You will be helping to provide an accurate and effective information and advice service to older people. This will include a welfare benefit service where you will be helping to identify potential benefits and support applications on behalf of clients.

The Benefits

In addition to valuable experience and training we will reimburse your travel costs to and from the office.



We will also reimburse your lunch costs up to the value of £3.50 if you are in the office for 5 hours or more.
