Will Writing Scheme
Age Connects Morgannwg has seen a marked increase in the number of enquiries relating to making a will. We are very aware that writing a will can be viewed as costly and complicated, frequently involving difficult decisions and forcing individuals to consider issues that can be upsetting. As a charity working with and for older people we recognise these issues but also wish to focus on the very positive benefits of making a will such as financial peace of mind in later life.
This has been our primary motivation for setting up our Will Writing Scheme and to ensure you receive the best possible advice we are working in conjunction with reliable local solicitors to provide you with a service to meet your needs.
The participating solicitors are independent of Age Connects Morgannwg but have agreed to provide a will writing service on a fixed fee basis for those people who are introduced through our Will Writing Scheme. The maximum cost of a single standard will is £80 plus VAT, or £120 plus VAT for a standard mirror will. Home visits are available, although this may incur an additional cost.
The importance of making a will
Although it is not a legal requirement to make a will, it is the best way to ensure with confidence that your wishes are respected and any property or possessions (estate) you own are left to those you intended.
Things to consider before making your will
- Details of your assets including home and contents, jewellery, car, bank or building society account, life insurance policies, etc.
- Names and addresses of family, friends or charities you wish to benefit from your will
- Names and addresses of those you wish to appoint to carry out your wishes (Executors)
- Other considerations, such as funeral arrangements, floral tributes and organ donation
