Grants
Grant-making bodies usually award grants on the basis of the individual’s former employment or because of a particular illness or disability.  For further information see below:

Alzheimer’s Society - small grants available (normally up to £500) to people with dementia (subject to conditons).

Community Care Grants are available for people on Income Support or Pension Credit, if they “need help to stay in the community” or in cases of exceptional pressure – contact the Social Fund Officer at your local Department of Work & Pensions. These grants do not have to be repaid.

Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association Forces Help (SSAFA) - grants available for ex-service personnel and families (subject to conditions).

Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation (CISWO) may award grants to ex-mineworkers or their dependents (subject to conditions).
