Care Standards
The Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) is responsible for inspecting nursing and residential homes and dealing with complaints.

Crossroads provides care attendants free of charge to give carers a short break from their caring responsibilities.

For respite care or a carer’s assessment contact Social Services departments.


Chiropody
GPs assess a patient’s need for chiropody and make referrals. Alternatively contact The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.

Cleaning
Cleaning is not available from Social Services departments. This service needs to be arranged privately.

Age Concern Morgannwg can provide domestic cleaning for a small fee via its SupportPlus Service or can provide a list of other local cleaning services upon request.

Also see Yellow Pages for private agencies (these types of agencies tend to charge per hour). Alternatively, you can advertise locally for a cleaner.  Benefits check recommended for those who may need help to pay.

Counselling
Refer to GP in first instance, but can be difficult to get counselling on NHS.  

For free counselling, try Churches Counselling Services in Wales.  Counselling also available from Sanctuary in Merthyr Tydfil, but it is means tested.

The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy can supply details of local counsellors.

Bereavement counselling available from Cruse Bereavement Care.  During a crisis people can speak to Samaritans.
